Jin Liu
Vice Principal, Academic Director
Professor
Prof. Jin Liu received her honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto St. George campus in 2013. She completed her Acupuncture and TCM diploma programs in John & Jenny TCM College. She is a registered acupuncturist and has been working as the vice-principal of John & Jenny TCM College for 5 years. She is currently a Ph.D. student at Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in the department of TCM Gynecology. Her mentor, 88-yr-old Prof. Guicheng Xia, is the national treasure of China, who was awarded “TCM Master of the Country” in 2014 for his tremendous contribution to the treatment of gynecological diseases through regulating menstrual cycle and manipulating the heart-kidney-uterus axis. Under the guidance of Prof. Guicheng Xia and his successor Prof. Yong Tan, Liu is very successful in her practice in the treatment of infertility, menstrual disorders, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, uterine fibrosis, ovarian failure, peri-menopausal syndromes and assisting IVF and IUI. Courses she teaches at JJTCMC include TCM Gynecology, Diagnostics of TCM I, Fundamental Theory of TCM, Introduction to Biomedicine I and II, Medical Ethics and Communication, Safety Program, Herbal Dispensary Management and Pan-Canadian Exam Review. Her fluent English, explicit explanations during class and interactive teaching style have made her one of the most beloved teacher at JJTCMC.
Lihui Guo
Professor
Lihui Guo received his medical degree in 1986 from the Liaoning College of Chinese Medicine. He was an Associate Professor and Vice Chief Physician, teaching and practicing Chinese medicine at the Liaoning College of Chinese Medicine, its affiliated hospital, and the Liaoning Academy of TCM until 1998. He has taken on-the-job training programs at the China International Training Center of Traditional Therapy of TCM, where he also majored in acupuncture, tuina massage and TCM traumatology. Lihui Guo also conducted clinical research on the effects of acupuncture on high blood pressure. He specializes in acupuncture and tuina treatment of sciatic neuralgia and headaches. He has taught and practiced acupuncture, tuina massage and Chinese Medicine since coming to Canada in 1998.
Tao Jin
Professor
Prof. Tao Jin received her bachelor’s degree in acupuncture from Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine in 1988. Since then she worked for more than 20 years in the Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine. She was the chief TCM doctor, professor of Clinical WHO International Acupuncture Training Center School of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, member of the Emergency Standing Professional Committee of the Acupuncture Association of Jiangsu Province. She is now a registered acupuncturist and a registered TCM practitioner in Ontario. From 1999 to 2001, Ms. Tao Jin was appointed by the Chinese Ministry of Health to support the European island, Malta. She was the vice-captain of the Chinese medical team and worked as the personal medical doctor for the former Prime Minister of Malta, Mr. Dominic Mintoff. From March 2007 to July 2008, she was assigned by the Jiangsu provincial government to support Yuanjiang Hospital of Xinjiang Yili as a medical expert. Her specific use of acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine cured many rare and difficult diseases.
David Bai
Professor
David Bai is a China-trained, licensed, and Ontario registered acupuncturist and general practitioner of traditional Chinese Medicine. He obtained 8 years of comprehensive TCM trainings from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. After earning his medical degree, David remained in China where he completed his TCM residency, and then worked as a TCM physician and instructor at the First Affliated Teaching Hospital of Hunan.
Throughout his professional career, David Bai has published widely (in Chinese), and taught various courses of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, as well as Medical Psychology, to students of diverse background both in China and in Canada. He is the author or co-author of several Chinese TCM Textbooks, and a core founding member of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Physicians Association of Canada.
Quan Zhou
Professor
Quan Zhou, PHD. is registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners (R.TCMP) and Acupuncturist (R.Ac) in Ontario. He serviced patients for more than 20 years. He comes from Longhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). He received his MD and PHD of TCM from Shandong University of TCM and Shanghai university of TCM. He also was Postdoctoral Fellow in University of Rochester Medical Center, NY, USA. He has published about 50 papers in Arthritis & Rheum, J Bone Miner Res and spine et al. He also won the Silver Snake Award (the highest honor award for young talents in the Shanghai Health System) and National Science and Technology Progress Award (CHINA) et al.
Vanessa Foteu
Professor
Vanessa was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario. She became interested in the health and wellness field at an early age. She graduated from George Brown College's Dental Assisting Level II program with honours in 2001 and worked in an orthodontic clinic for 1 year and tutored a number of students that were taking Dental Assisting. She then decided to persue a career in Dental Hygiene and attended Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, where also graduated with honours. She worked as a Dental Hygienist for 12 years. During that time she completed a certification course on the use of Dental Lasers, the Can Fit Pro Fitness Instructor Specialist (FIS) and Personal Trainer Specislist (PTS) certifications beause of her ongoing interest in health and briefly trained a number of clients and instructed bootcamp classes. She then decided to take Holistic Nutrition with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN). During her studies, she became interested in Chinese Medicine. She decided to enroll at JJTCMC. During that time she was awarded with the Most Outstanding Student of the Year. She obtained her licences as a Registered Acupuncturist and Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner in 2019.
Dina Al-Kayssi
Professor
Professor Al-Kayssi has a Naturopathic Medical Degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). She also holds a Doctor of Medicine Degree from All Saints University with excellence in clinical sciences and a Bachelor Degree in Life sciences from McMaster University. Prof. Al-Kayssi has completed a focus shift in Sport Medicine at CCNM. She is also certified in cosmetic acupuncture. She spent few years in research medicine with publications on Alzheimer’s disease. She is an athlete with a passion for rock wall climbing. She worked as a hockey trainer and a rock wall climbing instructor.
She possesses a unique knowledge and experience by combining Western and Eastern Medicine.
Sophie Wang
Professor
Sophie Graduated from JOHN & JENNY TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE COLLEGE. She was one of the top outstanding student in the school. She is providing treatment and health care for all fighters and coaches during competitions. As the health counselor, she instructs, solves and treats injuries and health problems for trainers and trainees. Sophie's teaching features: emphasis on the study of basic theory and the combination of theory and practice. She is also willing to share her learning experience with her students.
Boyan Zhang
Professor
Dr. Zhang grew up with a passion for learning about health and wellness. After graduating from University of Toronto major in Human Biology, she went on to obtain a doctoral degree in Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West in San Francisco Bay Area, California. Among her years practicing in the United States, Dr. Zhang became an experienced doctor in clinical diagnosis and patient care. She also co-founded a Non- Profit organization that brought free spinal screening and free spinal care to hundreds of patients in China and Mexico through Chiropractic service trips. Dr. Zhang’s mission is to help patients find root cause to their ailments and empower them with real solutions. She’s also passionate about raising awareness of benefits to Chiropractic care, particularly among minority communities in Canada.
Linda Chou
Professor
Linda is a practicing hospital pharmacist and has been working for the past 10 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto in 2009. She is currently working towards completing her Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy through the University of Colorado. She is passionate about the intersection between Western Medicine and Chinese Medicine and hopes to bring her knowledge and experience to enrich the learning experience of her students in Biomedicine classes.
Lei Tao
Professor
Lei Tao has over 10 years of experience in teaching and researching at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Lei later transitioned to industry where she has over 8 years of experience at a Canadian company in engineering and as the Global Sales Manager for 6 years.
Dr. Xiaolan Zhao has been Lei’s mentor of TCM for many years, since 2018, Lei has been a part of Xiaolan Health Centre in Toronto and facilitated the development of novel Chinese Traditional Medicine products. Meanwhile, Lei cannot resist her own passion to Traditional Chinese Medicine, Lei decided to study in John and Jenny TCM college.
Lei has also been to 17 countries to meet clients and give presentations. Lei’s way of teaching distills complex theories down to the core concepts and focuses on key points that are essential to gain a holistic understanding of Chinese Traditional Medicine.
Fenglin Liu
Professor
Having completed her studies at John & Jenny Traditional Chinese Medicine College, Fenglin emerged as one of the top-performing students, showcasing excellence in both academics and clinical practice. With a robust background of over 15 years as a gynecology doctor in a Chinese hospital, Fenglin passionately extends her expertise in gynecology and internal medicine within the realm of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In her teaching endeavors, Fenglin employs everyday examples to simplify intricate TCM concepts, particularly in the subjects of Acupoints, Channels, and Collaterals. Her instructional approach places significant emphasis on hands-on practice, ensuring a practical understanding for her students.
Nivin Sharaf, MD
Professor
Nivin is a distinguished medical educator and a Pediatrics Consultant in
Egypt- Cairo, holds the licentiate of the medical council of Canada, with
a rich background in teaching and medical practice. Teaching at the
University of Ottawa from 2001 to 2019, she specialized in Anatomy and
Physiology, Evidence-Based Medicine, and Professional Skills, employing
Case-Based and Problem-Based Learning methods. Nivin Sharaf
obtained her medical license from the Medical Council of Canada in
2007, underscoring her professional expertise.
Acknowledged for her exceptional teaching skills, Nivin received the
Excellence of Teaching Award from the University of Ottawa in 2010. Her
academic contributions include numerous research papers and case
studies, showcasing her commitment to advancing medical knowledge.
Yuan Hua Liu, PhD
Professor
Yuan Hua, (Bachelor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hubei University of
Chinese Medicine; Master's and Ph.D., Chengdu University of Traditional
Chinese medicine), is an Associate Professor at Chengdu University of
TCM, and an associate Chief Physician in the field of acupuncture and
massage therapy at Sichuan Provincial Hospital of TCM. He has been
teaching both the undergraduate and graduate TCM students for over 15
years, and has published several peer-reviewed papers in Acupuncture
and Tuina field. He is proficient in treating health conditions of
musculoskeletal, nervous, respiratory, digestive system etc.
Jin Zhi Liang
Professor
Jingzhi is a graduated alumni from John & Jenny Traditional Chinese
Medicine College. Jingzhi grew up in a family packs with TCM doctor in
Guangdong, China. He has developed a strong passionate for TCM since
as a kid. After his study in JJTCMC, he continued his master study of
Internal Medicine in Nanjing University of TCM. Now Jing Zhi runs a
TCM Clinic and teaches practical training of Acupuncture Treatment on
Common Diseases.
Dr Xuan Li Monica Huang
Professor
Completed 4 years of undergraduate + 4 years of Ph.D. Dual degree in
Pharmacology and Chiropractic. Certified Pilates Instructor, and professor at
John & Jenny Traditional Chinese Medicine College. In her clinical practice
as Chiropractor and Acupuncturist, Monica also provides ergonomic and
lifestyle advice, emphasizing the importance of prevention and wellness in
the context of physical activity.
Monica shares her integrated and enormous understanding of human body
by teaching human anatomy, biomedicine classes at JJTCMC.
Mira Zhang
Professor
Mira is one of the disciples of Master Zhong, Xue Yong, the 15th
generation Wu Dang Mountain martial arts descendants.
Mira founded Taich New Lady Club in Shanghai in 2019. Since then, she
has organized several group Tai Chi practices. She’s also an award
recipient of 2020 Traditional Tai Chi Competition organized by China
National Martial Arts Association and Wu Dang Martial Arts Bureau.
Mira also teaches Taoist Ba Duan Jin (also known as Eight Brocades)
classes in Toronto, where she is currently based. She is devoted to
promoting Wu Dang Mountain martial arts as a way of healthy living.
Hong Shun Yang
Professor
Hong Shun was a dedicated Qi Gong instructor, and has been practicing and teaching Qi Gong for over 30 years. He has studied classical Taoist Qi Gong, human potential development and many other Qi Gong techniques, he is under the master of Quan Zhen Long Men School, Master Jin Hui, for the Taoist Long Men School.
In Qi Gong teaching, Hong Shun is excellent at adopting special teaching methods such as grouping fields to spread qi, gathering qi, and practicing Qi Gong in group fields.
