ABOUT OUR ACUPUNCTURE & TCM SCHOOL’S MISSION
In short, our objective is to produce quality Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture professionals who will then make efficacious TCM and Acupuncture clinics accessible to the masses. To this end, we start by ensuring access to quality Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture education is affordable and flexible without detriment to quality, excellence, and authenticity.
ABOUT OUR ACUPUNCTURE & TCM SCHOOL TENETS
Authenticity
In order for our Acupuncture and TCM School to produce the best TCM practitioners and Acupuncturists, we understand that such medical professionals must be able to and adept at treating any disease presented to them in clinic – even emergent and novel diseases! The methodologies, theories, and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine throughout time evolved to do just this: treat anyone with any disease even new diseases. If acupuncturists and TCM practitioners fail to effectively serve this function, then they are not authentic practitioners of this medical system. It is not their fault either; it is the fault of their school and education in not instructing on how one can acquire the thought process behind the methodologies, theories, and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This goes beyond mere memorization of these methods, theories and practices; rather, it contextualizes these and serves to allow students to understand why a method, theory, technique, or practice is the way it is today. When one knows how TCM and Acupuncture looked at every step of the way throughout history to today, and when they understand why the changes occurred, then, and only then, are they are authentically equipped and adept practitioners of this medical framework. We shall stress, that an authentic TCM education, therefore, is not an education focusing on the ancient text of this practice alone; rather, it is one that exposes students to the ancients, to the experience of the experienced, to modern innovations within TCM, and the scientific literature concerning this practice of medicine. Only then can one truly appreciate and understand the evolution of medical theory and how to generate one’s own theories and treatments.
Excellence
The Excellence that our Acupuncture and TCM school strives to produce in our graduates include: academic excellence in excelling as a student and equipping oneself with the means of continuing their study of this subject throughout their professional career, and clinical excellence in the kind treatment and respect of patients, in one’s ability to develop and execute effective treatment plans based on traditional, conventional, and scientific theories, and in the sincerity with which one engages in this profession. Finally, as a school of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Ontario, we strive to obtain and maintain a 100% passing rate on the Pan-Canadian Examinations for students to become fully licensed Registered Acupuncturists (R.Ac) or Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners (R.TCMP).
Accessibility
Though the principles of Authenticity and Excellence ensure that our Acupuncture and TCM School achieves our mission of producing top-quality and authentic Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture professionals, our tenet of Accessibility serves to ensure that the rest of our mission, is realized: to maximize the dissemination of benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine to the public. To this end, by producing top-quality TCM and Acupuncture professionals who will go on to effectively treat their patients in their own clinics throughout the world, we, their an Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine School, have thereby played a paramount role in spreading the authentic and efficacious practice of TCM and Acupuncture to the general public. Furthermore, to ensure that we can maximize the number of graduates that we produce, we are compelled by this tenet to offer our diplomas, certificates, and courses at affordable rates and with flexibility to complete one’s education on one’s own schedule. To drive our commitment to this principle home, we even invite renowned practitioners from China for a lecture series offered to all those interested at an affordable price and we often provide free lectures to the general public concerning the use of and benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
ABOUT OUR ACUPUNCTURE & TCM SCHOOL ETHOS
"To innovate, one must follow the ancients first; To practice virtue, one must perfect skills with sincerity."
Our Ethos embodies the mindset of the Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner that our school serves to produce: one who is humbly and sincerely committed to the tenets of authenticity and excellence, and to the life-long journey of experiential education through clinical practice.
ABOUT OUR ACUPUNCTURE & TCM SCHOOL MASCOT
Meet "Fudda", our Song Dynasty acupuncture bronze man and school’s mascot located in the main lecture hall.
These bronze man models were ordered to be forged by the emperor Tiansheng in 1027. The model was used as an examination, practice, and study aid. For examinations, the figure was covered with wax to seal the acupoint holes and the inside of the model overflowed with water. If the insertion was done correctly, water would pour forth.
Notice the strategic placement of Fudda inside our Acupuncture & Tcm School:
On the lecture stage in our largest classroom: to evoke the idea of learning from the ancients as the ancients did; that the professors on the lecture stage continue the medical body of knowledge whose journey commenced years ago; that the education offered at our institution is traditional and authentic; that when in doubt, students should simply turn to the foundational ancient theories that comprise TCM.
Right beside our wall of scientific research journals: to evoke the idea that the education at this institution is not just traditional but is authentically true to the progression and evolution of TCM theory and practice by understanding its origins, development, evolution, and current research and scientific inquiry in this domain.
